Blazing Bank Holiday

We're just checked the weather for the bank holiday and, not that we want to jinx it, it looks fabulous!

Let's be honest, this is the only warm bank holiday we'll have for a whole, not least because the next on is Christmas! (Wow it comes around quick). So, make sure you make the most of the time off and the warm weather.

Recipe for a fabulous bank holiday:

Get to the Garden Centre! Although typically a quiet month for seed sewing, August is a great time to sew a winter crop of Spinach, Card and other lettuces, and to start off spring greens in a greenhouse or cold frame. Don't forget, many flowering plants are available for the cooler months, too - start these off in the greenhouse and have colour through autumn and winter.

Get inspired! Why not take the family out for the day, with a visit to Kew Gardens. They're currently hosting a new exhibition called "IncrEdibles: A Voyage Through Surprising Edible Plants." Perfect for kids and adults alike, there are student plots, workshops, and plenty of tasting opportunities on offer. Broaden your food horizons and be introduced to an exciting gardening world.

Get together! The summer is all about barbecues, friends and balmy summer evenings on the decking. Why not get all of your friends together this weekend and make the most of the extra day off. Sizzling sausages, banging burgers and chargrilled chicken - what's not to love about that?!
